The Oil Region Ballet will perform its rendition of "The Nutcracker" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 13, at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin.

The show will be performed again at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, at the theater. 

Here is a synopsis of the show:

The Nutcracker

Clara, the young Goddaughter of the famous toymaker Drosselmeyer, finds herself in the middle of a rescue attempt to save Drosselmeyer’s young nephew Hans-Peter from the evil Rat Queen’s magic spell that has transformed him into a wooden Nutcracker. Two things must happen; an extraordinary act of valor must be freely given on the Nutcracker’s behalf, and the Nutcracker must find love and care despite his wooden appearance. Clara finds herself drawn into magical realms with the enchanted Nutcracker in search of the cure. Based loosely upon E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fantasy story, this timeless Christmas tale will transport viewers to beautiful, enchanted lands helping Clara discover true holiday magic
